Vehicle History:
I got this car with my '58 Mayfair as a package.  I will be taking what I need off it for my '58 and maybe parting out the rest.  Most of the sheetmetal is banged up pretty bad and looks like swiss cheese and I only have time and money for one major project car at the moment, but I love this car because it's so unusual and still may choose to make a mild custom out of it in the future.

Here's an interesting story I was told about this car by the previous owner.  Apparently this car can fly...or at least it once did.  The fellow who owned the car before me (Jim) used this car as his main form of transportation for 30+ years in his younger days.  I can't quite remember the details, but during that time he had problems with another fellow who didn't like him for one reason or another.  Back then Jim was quite well known around the closely knit community, and his unique car (the yellow '57 Mayfair) made him even more recognizable.  I remember Jim telling me that people always knew when he was coming.  They'd see the Mayfair driving by and say "there goes Jim in the big banana!"  Well, apparently one day this fellow that Jim was having problems with decided he was going to sabotage Jim's car by cutting the brake line.  The problem was that Jim's wife would be the next person to drive the car.  She ended up going down a fairly steep grade without any brakes and as she reached the bottom of the hill the car was somehow launched into the air, twisted completely around and landed right side up on it's wheels.  The car suffered some front end damage, hence the reason for the rusty Custom Royal front clip on the car right now.  There are a few other dents on the car in odd places that seemingly can't be explained.  Despite the unusual trip this car had, the majority of it remains intact and unharmed (with exception of the years of rust build-up).  All glass except the windshield is still perfect and the roof and cab escaped damage.
Jim's wife was fine by the way : )
