Vehicle History:
I bought this car back in 1996 at the age of 15 with plans to fix it up and convert it to look identical to Christine.  I bought a complete '58 Plymouth front clip for it and everything.  Progress has been agonizingly slow over the years due to lack of funds, experience and time.  The slow progress however, was a blessing in disguise...because it was not until 2005 when I became aware of how rare this car actually is.  With only 3,002 total '58 Mayfairs produced (all body styles) and it being such and unsual Mopar hybrid, I decided the right thing to do is to restore it back to original.  Now I love my Mayfair and am working hard to save up the money I'll need to get her roadworthy again.
When I bought her she was a customized mess; shaved door handles, emblems & gas door, frenched antenna, custom taillights & reverse lights, custom interior, custom front end...all of which was poorly done...and an obvious rush job.  When stripping the paint, I found the car had been painted about three different colours in it's lifetime (green, yellow and red)  The red looked like it had been applied about ten times it was so thick!
As you can see from the pics, the car now has all it's original emblems and door handles again, the gas door is present as is an original interior (from a '57 Mayfair so it's not 100% correct, but close)  The car will be put back in her original colour of Marsh Green (a Canadian only colour), but will be dressed up with Iceburg White on the roof and aluminum inserts in the Sportone trim which didn't originally come on this particular Mayfair.
I've got a long way to go with this car, but it'll be worth it once she''s done!
