Vehicle History:
Like most 57-58 Plymouth freaks, the Movie Christine set me oin fire for one of these cars,I saw the movie when I was 17 on VHS, Over the years I searched for one, but the very few I found where either 4 doors, rust buckets beyond repair or victims of the, Ima Gonne Fix er up one day Brigade,
I had given up and was restoring a 67 barracuda. Last Wednesday while on my way back from the junkyard, I took a wrong turn and searched for a place to turn around, I pulled in a driveway and low and behold, there between two large pine trees and alot of Junk cars, sat this 57 Plymouth Staring right at me. I almost didn't even ask about the car, I figured it wasn't for sale, but something pushed me to the front door of the house to where a young lady told me Yes the car was about to be for sale. I looked her over and found she was a 2 dr hdt with 70,000 original miles on her, you can imagine how excited I was, I returned to the front door and left my phone number, expecting the car to run at least 3500.00 for the shape she was in, upon my return home I recieved a phone call from the owner. He told me he had been the owner of the car for 14 years and she had been kept in his garage, he gave me the history of the old girl and then I asked, How much?
and nervously awaited. I need to get $1200.00 for her, he replied. I was estatic, Can I bring you money to hold it until tomorrow evening? I asked, Just come on out tomorrow around noon and we'll crank her up and you can driver her around the yard and see if you want her, he said. I could not believe it! I arrived 30 minutes early the next day with cash in pocket and looked her over again real good, we chatted and I asked the low cash dollar again, 1200.00 he said, I'll give you $1,000.00 right now, I offered, to my amazement he accepted, within 30 minutes the old girl was on her way home via rollback. I snapped a few picks of her in the pines and when she got home. I am planning on storing her until my first kid is born in the spring and then I am starting on her in the summer, I am very tempted to paint her red and white BUT how often do you see one this color?
I can't wait to slip behind the wheel and cruise her around town :) looking for a name for her, any ideas?????
