Vehicle History:
Picked the car up from a friend. Her dad had purchased the car new in Albuquerque New Mexico and the car never left the state (no rust). Her pops passed away and the car sat for 5 years, 2 out in the street and the last 3 in a garage. By chance I stated to her that I wanted to restore a vintage car and she mentioned her Savoy. Bada bing, bada boom, the next thing you know I am bringing the car to my garage. Now is where the story gets interesting. I have NEVER worked on a car beyond fixing a flat. The best part is that he loved that car and was in the process of restoring it. he had the interior redone but the years in the street ate the seat tops and the back area. Headliner and carpets are in excellent condition. He had recently rebuilt the engine. He was missing a part to the clutch, so I am trying to figure out that part. Here is the part that hurts to write. He had taken ALL the trim (spears, sport tone, trunk lock, letters, hood ornament, fin tops and caps, script, etc.)off the car to paint it, and had placed all the trim and the bumpers (2 sets) in the yard. Well, when she moved she had all the trim and bumpers taken to the dump. I know, I know, you feel my pain. So, I have spent countless hours on e-pay and other sites trying to find the trim and other items. I have found a few pieces. The fender spears and side trim, I cannot find for the life of me. Well as you all know, I have fallen under the spell of the 58 Plym and their is no cure. I will try my best to carry on where he left off. Dime at a time, for life with my new wife (Savoy) ps, my wifes name is Christine and Italian at that!
