Vehicle History:
I wish I had an original story to tell, not the same old story about being influenced by the movie Christine... This is not the case here... Just like thousands of others, I fell in love with the 57/ 58 Plymouth line after seeing the movie Christine. For the past 20 years, it had been a dream of mine to own one.. But i chalked it up to just that, a dream. In the past twenty years I had never seen one in person, let alone own one. Earlier this month I was traveling through eastern NH, I had a store that I had to do some work for in Maine. I remember I was complaining to a co-worker about how much I didn't want to go to the store. In the middle of that session, I saw the car parked on the side of the road with a for sale sign on it. I couldn't believe it! I quickly turned my car around to look at it. Despite the obvious wear and tear, the car was in decent shape for being close to 50 years old. I quickly jotted down the number, and called the owner the next day. He was asking 2500.00 for it. The car was well worth that amount, but was a little more than I was willing to dish out for something I really didn't "need". I called the owner back and expressed my interest in the vehicle, and i asked the owner to keep me in mind if he doesn't get any bids close to the $2500.00 mark. I told him I would be willing to give him $1500.00 for it. He called back the next day and accepted my offer. The following day we went over and picked the car up. The car was driven 60 miles back to my house. The engine has 86000 original miles on it, and runs nice. The body needs some TLC, primarily in the floor boards and trunk. The interior is a wreck! It needs all new cloth, door panels, carpet, seat covers, ceiling, etc. The dash is in great shape. The gas gauge doesn't work, and the owner had put in an after market radio. I was able to pick up an original AM radio on EBAY, along with a new hood emblem. My intentions are to fix the car up for me to drive on the weekends... I have no desire to make this a show car (nor do I have the money) . I bought this car to make me happy, not to show off. Sometimes I look outside and wonder, "what did I get myself into?" But, then I remember, I have wanted one of these since I was 12 years old! The hardest part was finding one..  Mission accomplished! Now I need to just do a little at a time, and figure out where to begin with a limited budget.. I'm new to this, and definitly open to suggestions...
